Round the World in 30 Days

Seeing the World – One Month at a Time

Photo of the Day – Bonaire, N.A.

The Divi Flamingo Beach Resort, Bonaire

Today was “one of those days” in the travel world.  Though separated by only 120 kilometers, it required two flights on Curacao’s Insel Air and a brief stop in Curacao to get from Aruba to Bonaire.  As we taxied to the runway right on time in Aruba, the flight attendant asked a passenger to put her child (who had to be at least 4 years old) in a seat instead of on her lap.   She refused, resulting in our return to the gate and her eventual removal from the aircraft.  I would have completely missed my connection in Curacao had it not been for the fact that our plane was the same one flying on to Bonaire.  Thank God for small favors.  Though each flight was only about 20 minutes, the overall travel time turned into almost 4 hours today.  But all was forgotten when I arrived at the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort in Bonaire this afternoon.  I have a fantastic oceanfront room that literally overhangs the crystalline waters.   Tomorrow, I’ll be checking out what Bonaire is most famous for… some of the world’s best snorkeling and diving.
