The Grand Palace, Bangkok
Translated as the “City of Angels” in Thai, the cosmopolitan city of Bangkok is a cultural delight and one of Asia’s most compelling destinations. Known worldwide for its gleaming temples, eclectic shopping and exotic nightlife, Bangkok is also a mecca for food lovers of all origins. Built in 1782, the dazzling Grand Palace is the city’s most impressive landmark. The complex includes the brilliantly ornate Wat Phra Kaew which contains the revered Emerald Buddha. From the backpacker charm of Khao San Road to the glitz of 5-star hotels, Bangkok has it all. It’s one of the world’s best cities and I never miss the opportunity to stop over for a few days on my RTW trips.
