Situated on the banks of the Mississippi River and nicknamed the “City of Lakes,” Minneapolis has been named one of the World’s Cleanest Cities and is known for lakes, parks and many green initiatives. Along with the adjoining capital of St. Paul, the combined metropolitan area known as the “Twin Cities” is home to more than 3 million residents. Professional sports are well-established in Minneapolis and the city’s multi-functional Metrodome is the only stadium to have hosted a Major League Baseball All-Star Game, the Super Bowl, the World Series and the NCAA Basketball Men’s Final Four. The last time I visited Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota’s Golden Gophers were also playing in the Metrodome while their new stadium was under construction. This weekend I’ll finally get to see that new stadium (TCF Bank Stadium) as my crew covers the Northwestern @ Minnesota game Saturday at noon on ESPN2.

I'm Jenny McIver, career girl, globetrotter. On New Year's Day, 2005, a newspaper article about a man who took a trip around the world sparked a wanderlust in me that has yet to abate. I spent the following year planning my own trip-of-a-lifetime and have since made it into an annual, month-long adventure visiting and writing about more than 130 countries on all 7 continents along the way - all while maintaining a full-time career. Today, my goal is to be that spark of inspiration for others by proving that you can fulfill your wildest travel dreams without quitting your day job.
