To the soundtrack of palm trees swaying gently in the breeze, our dinghy beached upon the perfectly sandy shore of Turtle Island. One of dozens like it in the San Blas Cayos Holandeses chain, the Kuna family who make their home here welcome guests aboard visiting charter sailboats and yachts anchored nearby. As we dip our toes into the sand, we’re greeted by the island family’s patriarch and invited to spend the afternoon for just one US dollar per person. A bargain at twice the price for your own private paradise. We explore the island from end to end in just under 15 minutes before settling into shaded hammocks for the afternoon. Just another day in the life of San Blas island-hopping.

I'm Jenny McIver, career girl, globetrotter. On New Year's Day, 2005, a newspaper article about a man who took a trip around the world sparked a wanderlust in me that has yet to abate. I spent the following year planning my own trip-of-a-lifetime and have since made it into an annual, month-long adventure visiting and writing about more than 130 countries on all 7 continents along the way - all while maintaining a full-time career. Today, my goal is to be that spark of inspiration for others by proving that you can fulfill your wildest travel dreams without quitting your day job.
