After a weekend spent working in Lincoln, Nebraska, I decided it was time for a little getaway between games. The purpose of this trip is twofold: I need to make some headway on the two books I’m currently writing and, of course, I also need some miles. So what better place than Waikiki for an inspirational writing retreat/mileage run! I’ll be here for just two nights since it takes an overnight flight to get back to the mainland in time for next weekend’s game in Madison, Wisconsin. I started my day before dawn with a morning run and hike up Diamond Head crater in preparation for the Honolulu Marathon which I’ll be back to run in December. Now it’s time to settle in with my laptop, a mai tai and an ocean view and get to work on these books. Til tomorrow!

I'm Jenny McIver, career girl, globetrotter. On New Year's Day, 2005, a newspaper article about a man who took a trip around the world sparked a wanderlust in me that has yet to abate. I spent the following year planning my own trip-of-a-lifetime and have since made it into an annual, month-long adventure visiting and writing about more than 130 countries on all 7 continents along the way - all while maintaining a full-time career. Today, my goal is to be that spark of inspiration for others by proving that you can fulfill your wildest travel dreams without quitting your day job.
