Round the World in 30 Days

Seeing the World – One Month at a Time

Photo of the Day – Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavik, Iceland

Though it may spend more of the year in darkness than daylight, the world’s northernmost capital is one of Scandinavia’s shining stars. Often dubbed “the nightlife capital of the north,” Reykjavik is famous for its energetic live music scene. But there’s more to this colorful city than nightclubs. The island of Iceland is located in one of the world’ most active geological zones with rumbling volcanoes, erupting geysers and steaming geothermal baths like the Blue Lagoon within easy reach of the city. Take the famous Golden Circle drive to visit Pingvellir National Park, the Gullfoss Waterfall and the Geysir from which all are named. It’s the perfect day trip from Reykjavik and a great way to experience this uniquely diverse Nordic country.
