Photo of the Day – St. Kitts & Nevis

The view of Nevis from Cockleshell Bay on St. Kitts

Christopher Columbus may have first spotted the isle of St. Kitts in 1493 but it wasn’t until the British arrived in 1623 that the Europeans finally colonized this Caribbean beauty. Today, St. Kitts and its neighboring island, Nevis, constitute an independent, twin-island nation.  Separated by a 2-mile wide channel and connected by ferry service, the islands are best known for sunny skies, inviting pale blue waters and sparsely-populated beaches. From the shores of St. Kitts, the graceful green slopes of Nevis rise from the Caribbean Sea into the clouds creating the perfect tropical view for a day at the beach.
