Photo of the Day – Koh Phi Phi, Thailand
Just a 45-minute scenic boat ride from Phuket or Krabi will transport you to the tropical paradise of the Phi Phi Islands. World-famous for diving, silky-soft white sand beaches and turquoise bays, the islands are perhaps best known for the dramatic limestone cliffs that rise directly from the Andaman Sea. While six islands make up this stunning archipelago, only one – Koh Phi Phi Don – is populated. Nearby Koh Phi Phi Leh served as the dreamy backdrop for scenes from the movie, “The Beach.” All of the Phi Phi Islands were devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunami of December 2004 but redevelopment has been swift and Koh Phi Phi Don remains the best place to base for a few days in the islands.
