Photo of the Day – Stockholm, Sweden
Sometimes referred to as the ”Venice of the North,” Sweden’s capital city cascades across 14 islands connected by some 50 bridges. With more foreign visitors than any other city in Scandinavia, it is also considered the capital of Scandinavia. Built in the 13th century at the strategic point where vast Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea, maritime life is second nature in Stockholm. Water so clean you can drink it covers 30% of the city area and parks and green spaces cover another 30% giving this green and blue city some of the freshest air of any European capital. Stockholm’s Gamla Stan, or Old Town, is the hub of this lively, cosmopolitan city and the place I spent a lot of time during my visit.
