Photo of the Day – Santiago, Chile
On a clear day, the city of Santiago – encircled by vast mountain ranges – benefits from a natural setting majestic enough to take your breath away. Unfortunately, clear days (like the one captured above) are few and far between in Chile’s largest city which has become more famous for its smog than the nearby snow-capped Andean peaks. But don’t let Santiago’s often murky horizons deter you, the city thrives in the culinary and art worlds and its energetic neighborhoods reward the patient visitor. If the congestion of the city overwhelms, within two hours’ drive you’ll find challenging ski resorts, exceptional wineries and the beautiful beaches of Viña del Mar.
