Legend has it that Cyprus was once the playground of the gods and one visit to this beautiful Mediterranean island will make you a believer. One of the island’s highlights is the Paphos Region on the southwest coast. The colorful town and harbor are home to cosmopolitan resorts, a medieval fort, seaside dining and nearby archaeological sites including an ancient theatre. Near Old Paphos lies the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, and she has been worshipped here since ancient times. In fact, you could say that love is quite literally in the air on the mythical island of Cyprus.
