I’ve seen a lot of places in the world. Some of those places get an excessive amount of tourism hype but few of them actually live up to it. Portofino is one of those rare exceptions. If possible, Portofino may have even exceeded the hype. As we cruised into the harbor that day, just a short hop from our cruise ship stop in Genoa, Portofino almost didn’t seem real. Like I had sailed into a Disney-inspired Italian mirage. So delightful, in fact, that it was apparently too much for my camera which committed hari-kari during our brief visit. But even that couldn’t ruin my day in Portofino which is why I’m awarding it the #2 spot on my “Favorite Places” list from the summer trip. Dear Italy: After so many years together, you continue to wow me. xoxo – Jenny
