Ahhh…Bangkok. International backpacker haven and home to some of the world’s most exotic nightlife. But this Asian treasure is so much more than meets the eye. From gleaming temples and dazzling palaces to eclectic street food and markets the size of a small city, the steamy Thai capital has something for everyone. See all the best sights for a song with an inexpensive ride on the tourist boat as it winds down the Chao Phraya River. Don’t miss the sensory overload of Khao San Road where backpackers from all over the world converge over pad thai and Singha beer. But my #1 must-do activity in Bangkok? A $5 Thai massage at any one of hundreds of spas around the city. With so much to see and do, it’s no surprise that Bangkok is my favorite city in the world and the only one I’ve visited on all 6 RTW trips.

I'm Jenny McIver, career girl, globetrotter. On New Year's Day, 2005, a newspaper article about a man who took a trip around the world sparked a wanderlust in me that has yet to abate. I spent the following year planning my own trip-of-a-lifetime and have since made it into an annual, month-long adventure visiting and writing about more than 130 countries on all 7 continents along the way - all while maintaining a full-time career. Today, my goal is to be that spark of inspiration for others by proving that you can fulfill your wildest travel dreams without quitting your day job.
My favourite city too. Love the place with plenty to do and see. Visited there four times now and gping back again in a few months time. Love the river ferry trips.
