Seeing the World – One Month at a Time

Photo of the Day – Bard Mala Buza, Dubrovnik

Early morning at Bard Bala Buza as seen from the city walls - by noon the umbrellas are up and the cliffs are dotted with people

An unmarked hole in the south side of the city walls leads out to the sea and to one of the best bars/swimming spots in all of Dubrovnik.  If you didn’t know what you were looking for, Bard Mala Buza would be impossible to find.  But once you emerge through the wall, you’ll find sun-splashed rocky terraces dotted with white umbrella-shaded tables.  Waves crash against the rocks as tourists and locals alike enjoy a dip in the emerald green Adriatic Sea.  Stop in for a Karlovacko beer and sit back and watch the show as cliff-jumpers dive into the sea around you.  Further along the city walls is Buza Bar (also known simply as “Cold Beer” for the few signs that point to it), a similar setting with fewer options for swimming but a better vantage point for the setting sun.  Both are well worth a visit on any trip to Dubrovnik.
