Photo of the Day – Geneva, Switzerland
My train ride from Chamonix to Geneva this morning was all you’d expect a train ride through the Alps to be…spectacular. I arrived in Geneva to cloudy skies and humidity reminiscent of a country much closer to the equator. But the forecast had called for rain so I considered myself lucky. I spent a lovely day walking around Lake Geneva and taking pictures of the hundreds of swans and boats in the marina. Not the best day for photography but I gave it the old college try (you can view the rest of the day’s photos below). I found a nice café on the lake for lunch and spent some time there enjoying the free wifi before hopping the train to Geneva Airport for my flight to Barcelona. If you ever have a layover in Geneva, it’s a quick and easy 6 minute trip by airport train into town. In fact, they even offer a tourist transit card that gets you a free ride into the city for up to 80 minutes after your flight arrives. You can also pick up a Geneva Public Transport Card at the airport kiosk for free travel on the transit system during your stay and a free ride back to the airport when you leave. It’s a great deal and it means that even if you have just a short layover, you can get out and see some of this tourist-friendly city.
