Photo of the Day – Cafe Du Monde, New Orleans
If there’s one thing New Orleans is world famous for, it’s food! And if there’s one place not to be missed on your food tour of the city, it’s Cafe Du Monde. Established in 1862, this traditional French coffee shop is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – closing only on Christmas day and for the occasional hurricane. In addition to its dark roasted coffee, Cafe Du Monde is best known for serving square, French-style doughnuts - called beignets – piled high with powdered sugar. If you stop in for a visit, don’t be surprised to leave wearing a little bit of that powdered goodness.
