Photo of the Day – Ubud, Bali
Mention the word “Bali” and you’ll undoubtedly evoke images of the gently swirling rice terraces of Ubud. They are Bali’s most photographed attraction and what the average person envisions when they think of this most visitor-friendly of Indonesian islands. The classic Balinese terraced growing system (called subak) allows the water to flow from one field to the next ensuring that every farmer gets enough water for his field. Though practical in nature, the visual effect of the terraces is striking. While most spend their Bali holiday lounging on a beach chair, a visit to Ubud is a splendid diversion for a peek into Balinese tradition.
