Seeing the World – One Month at a Time

Photo of the Day – Hong Kong

Overlooking Hong Kong from Victoria Peak

At just 426 square miles with a population of more than 7 million, Hong Kong is one of the most densely-populated areas in the world.  Navigating around this city of skyscrapers requires mastering the maze of skybridges and escalators that connect it.  Get your bearings and take it all in from the park atop Victoria Peak.  The tram ride up to The Peak is an experience unto itself.  Steel cables pull the tram 1,200 ft up the mountain at an ascent so steep the skyscrapers you pass on the way up actually look like they’re leaning.  But, in my opinion, the best deal in all of Hong Kong is the Star Ferry.  For only about 20 cents U.S. you can ride the ferry across Victoria Harbor to Kowloon for exquisite views of Hong Kong Island.  When you dock in Kowloon, head to the Lobby Lounge at the Intercontinental Hotel for a cocktail and a panoramic view as the sun sets over the world’s most famous skyline.   But, be warned, it will leave you speechless.
