Seeing the World – One Month at a Time

Photo of the Day – Salzburg, Austria

Hohensalzburg Fortress, Salzburg

The charming city of Salzburg is the birthplace of Mozart and the heart of music and culture on the northern edge of the Alps.  The well-preserved architecture of its stunning old town centre (Altstadt) is often referred to as a “Baroque Jewell” and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.  Massive Hohensalzburg Fortress towers over it all with sweeping views over the Salzach River and the Alps.  Enjoy dinner at Europe’s oldest restaurant or sing Do-Re-Mi in the Mirabell Gardens.  You could easily fill a week in this historic town or try your best to see it all in just one day.
