Photo of the Day – Jost Van Dyke, B.V.I.
Today was my favorite day of the trip so far. After docking in Tortola this morning, we boarded a charter to the island of Jost Van Dyke for a visit to the infamous Soggy Dollar Bar on White Bay. Since there’s no dock on White Bay, the only way to get from your boat to the white sandy beach is to swim for it…hence the bar’s name. I was blown away by White Bay. Until today, I thought beaches like this one only existed in the South Pacific. In fact, I was reminded of Waya Island in Fiji as I wandered around taking pictures. All of our new friends from the ship were with us on the charter today which made it even more fun. After arriving at the Soggy Dollar Bar, we sampled a few “Painkillers” and settled in for some sun, sand and surf. It was a fantastic day and definitely the highlight of the cruise so far. We’re headed back out to sea now with one final stop in Nassau, Bahamas on Saturday.

Isn’t it just the most gorgeous beach? I am heading there next week – right now I am on Anegada – another place you should plan to visit sometime. There’s miles of beaches here with not a soul on them and they’re all gorgeous. I took a 3 hour walk the other day along the shore and didn’t see a soul the entire way.
That sounds divine! I will definitely try to check it out the next time I’m in the Caribbean. Thanks!
